Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga Masterclass with Focus on Lower Back, Shoulders and Neck

Friday 15th November 2024 - 6.30 - 8.30 pm

This unique 2 hour masterclass will focus on creating spaciousness for the pelvis, lower back, mid back, shoulders and neck.

The root of many postural patterns affect the back, shoulders and neck, then when misaligned or tight, this in turn can cause lower back pain, SI pain, shoulder pain, neck pain and more. It is also the area most locked down, shut off and tight, from sitting at a desk for long periods of time, as well as driving and other lifestyle habits.

Every movement you make requires your back, and when it’s injured, tensed up, or spasming, all movements are painful movements and then there is also the mental and emotional stress that accompanies pain.

Often, structural problems aren’t even the cause of back pain, stress or immune problems are also common causes, however it is possible to ease back pain with therapeutic yoga techniques.

Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is a slow practice of holding poses while encouraging your muscles to release and relax. It’s also a meditation practice to ease anxiety and stress.

Yin Yoga and the spine go together like the sky and the clouds, the majority of Yin poses are seated lower-body holds, therefore, most of them target the spine or the hips in some way.

Yin Yoga is calm and meditative, you will hold seated and supine yoga postures for long periods of time in order to increase flexibility, encourage a feeling of release and letting go. Focus on the breath is key to getting deeper into postures and the benefits that come with this.

As we embrace cooler Autumnal temperatures, I hope that this sequence brings a sense of awakening, renewal, release and healing to your back, shoulders and neck .

Restorative yoga

Restorative yoga has an enormous capacity to heal physical and mental symptoms that are stress related.

The beauty of restorative Yoga is that there is no muscular contraction involved, we can actually achieve more opening in parts of the body that we perceive as tight by literally softening and relaxing.

During a restorative Yoga sequence, you still stretch, but at the same time you relax fully in to the stretch so that tension can be released on a deep cellular level.

As we let go, we become softer and create space for our mind and body to connect with our natural innate qualities of inner calm, peace, love, compassion and understanding of others and self.
