Wake Up to Spring - Yin Yoga session
Friday 15th March 2024
With the Spring Equinox almost upon us, this 2 hour, ‘Wake up to Spring’, Yin Yoga session, is all about revival, balance and renewal as we begin to emerge from the slower winter season of stillness and hibernation.
Springtime is time of awakening and expansion, we are each seeds that, having been steeped to soften in the deep watery conditions of Winter, are now poised and ready to sprout and blossom, energetically there’s a movement of pure potential.
This full body Yin yoga sequence is designed to simulate and facilitate nature’s revival; we will gather and draw energy inward, then release it outwardly as a metaphorical planting of seeds, ultimately embracing this powerful time of transition and re awakening.
This wake up class will start with a meaningful medtitaion, contemplation and intention setting, then the yin sequence will promote healing, with an all over stretch, release and opening for the whole body, (legs, hips, spine, side body and shoulders). The last 30 mins of the session will close with a deeply restful restorative pose followed by a guided supine relaxaxation.
In this class we’ll also explore essential therapeutic yoga from taoist energy cultivation, to include both restorative and yin yoga to clear stagnant energy from winter, release tension and help our body to feel more aligned as well as spacious, thus creating an easy seasonal shift.
My hope is that you leave the practice feeling inspired, expansive and more positive in body and mind, as well as ready to open up to new possibilities in all aspects of your life.
Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is calm and meditative, you will hold seated postures for long periods of time in order to increase flexibility and encourage a feeling of release and letting go. Focus on the breath is key to getting deeper into postures and the benefits that come with this.
Yin yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues—the tendons, fascia, and ligaments—with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. They are also designed to improve the flow of qi, the subtle energy said in Chinese medicine to run through the meridian pathways of the body. Improved qi flow is hypothesised to improve organ health, immunity, and emotional well-being.
Cost - £30
NB - This class is suitable for all levels of practioner - no previous yoga experience required.
